43 Weeks Old

Wow! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was updating this blog! This week has flown by super fast! I have been crazy busy at work, so has Eric and Max just continues to amaze us. He is walking everywhere now. Of course, he only likes to really get going when you are not paying attention, or when he thinks you're not! And apparently, he has been 'spreading the love' around at daycare. Yesterday, his sheet said that he was very affectionate and giving some of the smaller babies hugs. He's such a sweetie! Our director also told me that she is thinking of moving him up to the next room. I have mixed feelings. I'm glad because as she says, he is going to get bored with the other babies in the room where he is now...none of them are moving around very much. But, I look at those other kids and they look so much bigger! He's been sleeping better the past couple of nights, so that's good. What else? He is just a go getter! He hardly ever plays in the living room anymore. His new favorite thing is to take out all of the broken down cardboard boxes out of the recycling bin and push them all over the kitchen. I now kick a tupperware container almost every time I move across the kitchen. He loves that there is a new space to play in. He is also very interested in watching the cats disappear through the kitty door going down into the basement. I'm worried he is a little too interested. He has actually pushed the door open with his hand and I keep telling him it's not a door for Max to go through. But, we keep a close eye on him. He is eating more and more every day! We had a play date this week with one of our neighbors and another mommy that was in the same birthing class as us. All of the kids took swimming lessons together at the beginning of the summer. Max had fun at the park...he wasn't sure what to make of the swings, but he enjoyed playing in the grass and trying to eat all of the mulch! The weather has been so nice this week...we've had the house open for the past couple of days and it is amazing. Not sure what we're going to do when we get down to Texas...it's going to be a big change for us.

This was Monday...I have stopped trying to tame the hair!

Watching Berkeley go through the kitty door

TryiCrazy hair!

Just a swingin'...and holding on for dear life!

I just love this picture of him

He was bouncing on the space ship

Trying to hold Ava's hand

Checkin' each other out

Oooooh...grass!

Snack Time!

Sporting his 'Chicks Dig Me' shirt that Grandma sent him

Pulling Daddy's hair

'Sup?

So much for those rubber corners!
He even got to enjoy some Whitey's ice cream at the mall tonight...I like how he kept pushing my arm up when he wanted a bit. There was a hand in the cone at one point. But, other than that he did a great job with not grabbing at it. Even bit off some of the cone when we got down to the bottom!

42 Weeks Old

Well...I should have the picture of Max in the little devil cap on this week's post. He has become somewhat of a little baby vampire, biting on Mommy. It seems to be only me that he likes to chomp on and he bites down so hard that I have a few bruises as evidence. Luckily, there is no issue with him chomping on any of the other kids at daycare. I'm hoping this is just a phase and he will get over it before it turns into more of a problem...here's hoping!
Max has had a lot of fun this week standing up and seeing how many steps he can take at a time. He is starting to get that Franken-Baby stance. It reminds me of when Wyatt first started walking. Max even has the same droopy diaper! I tried to find a picture of Wyatt for another side-by-side, but of course, I can't find my cd. No doubt that within 5 minutes of posting this, I will find it...oh well!
Max is constantly amazing me every day. I've never felt this much pride before. He's my little man. He is loving going after the cats. He's getting better at 'sneaking up' on them. He has learned that if he doesn't laugh real loud and goes slow, that he can usually get to them and pounce on them before they run away. The cats are pretty good. They will just lie there until he releases them and they jump up somewhere that he can't reach them.
He has become a master at making a mess. I have to pick up his small toys each nigh so that Berkeley won't drag them here, there and yon. She loves bringing his toys upstairs or taking them down to the basement. Max totally enjoys getting all of his toys out in the morning and just dumping the ice cream bucket out on the floor. He still loves to dance at his table. He has become quite good at playing his alligator xylophone. And he loves to bang on things...whether it's the coffee table with his hands or the side of the bath tub with a toy, he is always banging on something. And yes, Dad, I have singing 'babaloo' to him when he does it...he thinks it's pretty funny!
He has graduated from baby pureed food all together. He is completely on solids. He loves bagels, continues to devour peas and has really enjoyed meat and cheese. He has had ham, turkey and chicken. We are going to try some fish this week and see how it goes.
We are all getting ready for our trip. Eric and I have been busy with work lately, so it will feel so nice to get away and just relax and HOPEFULLY, not have to worry about anything! I still have to figure out the packing situation. I sat down and started making a list the other day and Max's list is longer than Eric's and mine put together...crazy how one little person needs so much. Oh well...enjoy the pictures. There were a lot to choose from this week!

So, Eric hurt his toe last weekend and couldn't mow the lawn, that meant I got to do it...

...and apparently, Max enjoyed the show! (No, he is not that tall, he is standing on a box!)

Look at those blue eyes!

I love this picture! Who do you think will make it over first?

Franken-Baby!

You better watch out, Simon!

I love this one!

He has discovered the kitchen and enjoys banging everything on the floor!

Who needs a sippy cup?!

MY Tivo remote!

Standing up...
...step...

...step! He is getting pretty good at it!

The best smile ever!

41 Weeks Old

Don't really know what to say about this week. We battled the runs and horrible diaper rash last weekend. Thank goodness for the cloth diapers. Max's poor little hiney was so irritated that even just putting him in the tub had him screaming. Poor little guy wouldn't even sit down. So, I busted out the cloth diapers and they held up great! They also helped his skin to heal. And thankfully, we are through that! I keep thinking that he is getting ready to cut more teeth, but I cannot feel any evidence of that in his mouth. Who knows! He is so close to walking! In fact, he is taking steps in a sideways direction. You can see it in his face how bad he wants to just take off. He will be standing there and see something he wants and he tries to figure out how to get there and starts to move forward, but ultimately, he just gets down and crawls. He is so fast at that too! He has had a successful venture with a sippy cup this week. Up until now, he has just mainly been chewing on them, but last night he drank the whole thing! I was quite impressed. So, that is our Max update. It's been such a busy week at work and I'm so tired and I can't even remember what we did last weekend. We are all VERY ready for our vacation to Texas in a few weeks. I can't wait to take Max to the beach and see what he thinks of the sand! Not too many pictures this week...as i said, it was a busy week!

Max with his new toy that Daddy got him on Woot! He looks so big in this picture!

My sweet little boy!

Flipping through the cd's...hope he doesn't figure out how to get them out any time soon!

Chew, chew, chew! Had to take his astronaut book away...I think he was getting quite a bit of fiber from it! :)

So, he found something else to stick in his mouth!

Playing with Daddy's hat!

This seems to be his standard expression!

Here is a video of a few of his first steps. Not the best video, but that's what I was able to get! :)

40 Weeks Old

Such a big boy! Not too much happened this week. No, no steps yet. He likes to stand and 'dance', but he just isn't interested in taking a step unless he is pushing something. He got introduced to cheese and chicken this week and LOVES them both! Tonight, we went to have dinner at Village Inn with Grandma and Grandpa Wilbanks. Max does so well in restaurants. He just looks around and takes everything in. And the pancakes he gets to eat make him happy! After we all got finished eating and were just talking, we put him in the booth with us and before we knew it, he had climbed up onto the table. He is into everything! Earlier this week, he made it up to about the 5th step on the stairs. We have become better about putting the baby gate at the bottom of the stairs. Of course, the cats knock it over (it's just a pressure mounted one), but it keeps Max from climbing up there and potentially tumbling down. I'm sure when he begins to walk, he will learn how to attack the stairs, but for now, we are just keeping him away. He has started to mutter Ma Ma Ma Ma and it is AWESOME1 :)
We are counting down the days for our Texas trip...3 1/2 weeks. Everyone is so excited. I'm a little nervous about taking Max on an airplane, but the trip will be worth it. Can't wait to take little Max to the beach and see how he likes it! Here are some pictures!

Well, Blogger is being stupid and won't allow me to upload any pictures...hopefully, the issue will be resolved, but they obviously don't care. I'll try again later! (Can you tell I'm a bit peeved?!)
