I just love this little guy to pieces! He really seems to just be in a happier mood these days. Thanks to the doctor for figuring stuff out and getting us on the right dosage of medicine...and thanks to Mommy and Daddy for reading labels more closely. :)
Max is really starting to talk a lot more. In the store tonight, he pointed to the cake and said 'some cake'. It wasn't that clear, but I could tell what he was saying. He also gets really excited and yells 'I did it!' sometimes. I've noticed over the weekend that he is shaking his head yes and no a lot more. And the kid really understands a lot. Even though he is not speaking as much, he knows what you are saying to him. Tonight I asked him to take some paper and put it in the recycling box and he walked straight over there and put it in. I was relieved that he didn't start taking all of the paper out like he did the other day. He loves throwing things away, but of course, we have to make sure he doesn't take something else out of the garbage...or throw something away that is not supposed to be thrown in the trash. He is a button pusher. He likes to turn the tv off...something that is kind of annoying, but he's so cute about it! He helps out around the house too...he will close the washing machine door and will push the buttons to start it. I have to lift him up for this so, for now, we don't have to worry about him randomly starting the machine. He is really strong and likes to lift up and close the dishwasher door. He'll start the dishwasher, but we have to watch closely because he likes to lift the handle that opens the door and that stops the dishwasher. We have to keep the water/ice dispenser on the fridge locked. Sometimes we forget, like tonight. He was "helping" me unload the dishwasher and he took a cup over there and surprisingly, he got the water IN the cup, but then wanted to see it, so he almost spilled it. I helped and he started taking a drink, but then just dumped it all out. At least I can give him a towel and he cleans up his mess. I guess that's what we get from putting a cup in the bathtub with him. That's his favorite thing to do is dump all of the water onto himself.
Poor little guys is learning more and more about gravity every day. I fear that he is going to be as much of a clutz as his mommy. Yesterday, he was jumping around on his bed (silly monkey) and he likes to walk right to the edge and step off. Well, I'm usually sitting on the floor when he does this and catch him. Yesterday, I was putting away some clothes and he we down, face first into the floor. I thought he was laughing at first, but no, he was crying. I looked at him and all seemed fine, so we 'brushed ourselves off' and got on with things. Then, a few minutes later, I noticed a spot of blood on his sheet and sure enough, his nose was bleeding. Looks like a little cut. It stopped and we were all fine. Then, today, I get a call from daycare. Seems Max managed to trip over his own two fee and do another face plant on the floor. Well, his nose was bleeding and his lip looked a little swollen. I thought it just re-opened his injury from yesterday, but no, it was the other side of his nose. This is what little boys are supposed to do, right? Skinned knees, busted lips, bleeding noses...gosh that sounds horrible. He just loves to climb and he gets so excited, he wants to move faster than his little legs will let him right now and he just goes BOOM!
His hair is growing out again and it is so cute...it's starting to curl up in the back. We continue to work on his sleeping. Still no sleeping through the night, but at least he gets up and just comes to our room now-usually crying the whole way. Sometimes, we can get him down on the little fold out sofa next to our bed, but most nights he just climbs right up in bed with us. I probably shouldn't let him, but I'm too tired to fight it and at least we can all sleep-for the most part!
We are doing another round of swim classes this summer starting June 3rd, I think. Max is gonna love it I'm sure. I'm hoping to take him to the pool more this summer. We also got one to set up in our backyard, so we'll see if it ever finds its way out from under the stairs!
Here is a little video of Max having fun putting his Easter money (and some of Daddy's spare change) into his dinosaur piggy bank!
