31 Weeks Old

Oh what to say this week? I feel that I'm just hitting a wall. Max continues to be amazing and constantly tests his boundaries. He is crawling everywhere and is pulling himself up on any ledge he can find within his reach. It is getting harder to give him a bath because he only wants to stand up and beat on the side of the tub with one of his toys. He'll just be standing there, banging away, soaking wet and shivering! Other than telling him NO! and getting him away from the Wii and DVD player, he just goes about his day playing. At daycare, they have split his class up into mobile and non-mobile infants. For the moment, Max is in the non-mobile room. It's a little frustrating because he is one of only three that are crawling in the room. The rest of them are pretty much just lying there still. The other day, I picked Max up and one of the girls was telling me how he was in to everything all day long. He attacked a clothes basket full of toys and scattered them all over one of the play mats. I saw evidence of this when I picked him up. And then, apparently, he likes to climb on the other babies' backs and play drums on them. She said that he gets a kick out of this and just laughs...luckily the other kids think it's pretty funny too. I don't think it will be too long before he moves into the next room and has more playmates during the day.
Once again this week, we are having troubles with naps and sleeping through the night. It is very frustrating and I feel like I am doing all of the wrong things, but this is one of the rough parts of being a mommy and this too shall pass...I hope.
We didn't take too many pictures this week. Over the holiday weekend a virus went around our house. It hit Max, then Eric and finally me. So, on Tuesday, I was still sick at home and needless to say, I never caught up this week.
Last night we tried to put Max on his splash mat in the backyard. It's a fun little pad that you hook the water hose up to and it creates all sorts of fountains of water. Needless to say, he didn't like it. Probably because the water was too cold.
I am hoping that the weather clears up today so we can head over to Iowa City and take in the Arts Fest that is going on.

  1. Hi Danielle, Eric, and Max,

I haven't had any experience with babies but it looks to me like Max is much more advanced than the other babies. I think that he needs to be in the advanced mobile class so he will be tired when he gets home. Then he could eat and go to bed and possibly sleep all night.

I hope that you don't bar me from looking at your blog after reading my free advise. I just love to see how much Max is growing and advancing each week. I also think that Max's Mom and Dad need some rest too.

    Love,
    Ann
